About the Department

• The Government of Meghalaya vide Notification No:EDN-177/83/80 Dated 18th March 1985 had set up a separate Directorate for Sports and youth Affairs with Head quarter at Shillong for administrative convenience and in the interest of Public Service.

The function, power and Jurisdiction of the Directorate is defined below:-

• The Directorate shall be responsible to the Government for execution and efficient management of all works pertaining to Youth & Sports activities and other such related matters.
• Any other work that may be entrusted by the Government from time to time.
  The jurisdiction of the Directorate shall extend to the whole State of Meghalaya.
• The jurisdiction of the Directorate shall extend to the whole State of Meghalaya.
